The Bridge Tea Rooms. The afternoon ritual of serving tea
has been developed to a fine art here, and is so accomplished that the
Bridge Tea Rooms has been recognized as excellent by the prestigious Tea
Guild. Put aside any notions of dangling a tea bag in a mug, and think
instead of delicate bone china, the finest leaf teas, and friendly staff
in Victorian costumes serving home-made cakes, pastries and sandwiches.
Housed in a former blacksmith's cottage dating from 1675, the Bridge Tea
Rooms positively oozes atmosphere, and the classical music playing
gently in the background sets a tranquil tone. Interesting light meals
are also served throughout the day and traditional British dishes at
night, but the famous Bridge Cream Tea and range of Afternoon Teas is
the main attraction here: expect large scones topped with Devonshire
clotted cream and strawberry preserve, and a pot of one of 30+ fine
loose leaf teas presented to perfection in a beautiful teapot. For

Three Sisters
At the Mission Theatre
Core Theatre Productions to perform Chekov’s Three Sisters Core Theatre
Productions return again to Bath’s Mission Theatre with Brian Friel’s highly
acclaimed adaptation of Anton Chekov’s Three Sisters from 11th – 14th June
2008. Another exciting production from Bath based Core Theatre. Core
has been established for five years and has been building a reputation as
one of the region’s best up-and-coming Theatre groups. Performing everything
from their sell-out production of Terry Pratchett’s Wyrd Sisters at the
Mission in 2007, to the brand new work Of Dark and Bright by Alison Farina
performed at The Rondo Theatre in 2008. Now they are back with their latest
production - an exceptional adaptation of this Chekov classic. A
privileged family in an isolated provincial town, search for meaning in a
changing world. Dissatisfied and frustrated with their present lives, they
dream of returning to Moscow where they were happiest as children. As the
play develops, will they find happiness? Or will the changing world push
them further away from their dreams? This breathtaking version of
Anton Chekov’s classic play is brought to life by Brian Friel’s beautiful
adaptation, and is filled with both everyday humour and intense emotion.
Friel engages his own social history to exhibit on stage the characters’
epiphanies, passion and gradual self-realization to produce an adaptation
that so expertly suits Chekov’s own ideals of ‘emotional theatre’. The
Director Paige Emery is an Australian trained actress with a growing
portfolio of stage and television work. After performing in Core Theatre’s
Wyrd Sisters in 2007, Paige has chosen Three Sisters for her directorial
debut. Three Sisters promises to be a night filled with laughter,
drama and emotion. Core Theatre Productions is a community theatre
company, formed by a group of experienced amateurs, aimed at giving a chance
for anyone and everyone to enjoy making and watching theatre. The company is
open to anyone, from the complete novice to the experienced actor; the only
thing you’ll need to join is enthusiasm and commitment. Show dates are
Wednesday 11th – Saturday 14th June 2008. Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm
start (sorry, no late admissions). Tickets are £8.00 (£6.00 for
concessions) and are available from Bath Festivals Box Office on 01225 463
