Introduction
This guide has
been produced primarily to assist disabled people, however, in its
endeavours to create a 'Barrier Free' city, Bath & North East
Somerset Council very much hope it will be of much wider use by
residents and tourists alike.
We are all
conscious that historically Bath was not designed with the needs of
disabled people as a consideration. However, the Council is working
towards reducing the barriers or identifying them so that with the guide
to hand disabled people will feel more comfortable and confident in
finding their way around the City.
The guide has
been designed to inform people quickly and simply of access provisions
within the city centre. The level of access and associated facilities
can be identified easily with the use of icons (or symbols).
The
guidance and data given in this guide are broad based; every disability
is relatively unique. If you are at all uncertain of the accessibility
of a particular premise make a telephone call to confirm
suitability.
Any comments
you may have in respect to this guide and its contents would be
gratefully received as it is intended to regularly update it.
