Hi!

I'd love to join a book club if it is running during the evenings. Is there one still running and is there space for me to join?!

Thanks

Hi there,

I would like to join a book club. Is there one running in the evening & willing to take on new members? Alternatively would anyone be interested in starting another one?

We're well on the way to starting a new club very soon. Other than those I've already emailed is anyone else still interested? We're attempting a good balance between the sexes and ages - which, I believe, will make a good lit mix.

To all that are interested - I think we've now enough people to start a new club.

Does week beginning 14 May suit everyone?

If all that are interested respond to this in the affirmative I think we can get started.

Perhaps second Wednesday each month (evening) would work?

Meeting at a bar/pub in central Bath?

First book to be decided after we've all met?

Best Regards and looking forward to the new club's first meeting.

I'm pleased to announce that the first meeting of the New Bath Book Club is at 8.30 Wednesday 16 May at Sub 13, 4 Edgar Buildings, Bath.

I haven't really considered a format - just came along with your thoughts on what you've read recently and we'll take it from there.

Looking forward to meeting those of you that make it.

I'll email all those that have expressed an interest shortly.

Hi Martyn - just wondering how many people you are expecting to attend the first meeting? I am interested, but my experience is that book clubs are most successful when the numbers are kept fairly small (ie no more than around 8 people or so).

Good to meet you all at the first meeting of the New Bath Book Club (NBBC). I think it seemed to go quite well.

Ian McEwan's On Chesil Beach is the agreed read.

The next meeting is at 8.30 on Wednesday 4 July at the Rummer (venue TBC).

Until then have a great early summer.

Bath Book Club 2

Kate has 'held' a room at the Rummer - 4 July at 8.30.

There is a charge for the room of £20 - which sounds OK to me - but it has to be something all are agreed upon.

A few others have expressed an interest in joining the club and I've referred them to this forum.

Post to this forum or email me direct to let me know if this arrangement is acceptable to all.

I look forward to seeing members old and new in July.

Hi,

My friend and I would like to join your book club. I notice quite a few people have expressed an interest, is it ok if we just join you on the 4th July or will that make it too many people?

If this club is at full capacity is there anyone else interested in starting up a new one?

Hello,

I am moving to Bath in a few days. I'm a big reader and looking to meet some new friends so would love to join a book club.

It looks like there is one going on at the Rummer on 4th July? Is this right and would it be OK to join in?!

Is there anything else you can tell me about the group - how many attend, etc?

My email address is girvine@gmail.com

thanks

Hi

It seems that the bath book club that will be meeting at the Rummer is full so is anyone interested in starting a new one?

Hopefully with a few more posts to the site we will get enough people.

Hi
I'd love to join or help set up another book club. I'm interested in moderately serious books like classics, Booker contenders or similar. I'm happy to put together a list of people and try and set up a venue/choose a first book. Evenings and central Bath would be best for me. Anyone interested, email me sueboard@yahoo.co.uk. with evenings you can make and perhaps a suggested book.

I'm not sure how many of existing posts are already fixed up at the Rummer - if you're not and you're still interested, please mail me.

My friend and I are really keen to join a book group. Martyn - can you give me an idea of the kinds of books and number of people attending. We are both 25, and would like to read a wide variety of books from classics to modern lit. Let me know what the score is.
Cheers, Lindsay

Meeting 4 of the New Bath Book Club is at the Rummer in Bath (upstairs room as usual) at 8.45 on Wednesday 5 September. We're reading Kingdom Come by J G Ballard.

There's around seven of us but I guess a couple more would be OK if you'd like to come along and don't mind sitting on the big cusions in the upstairs room.

Hello, I am new to the UK and having left my bookclub of 7 years behind in Canada I am looking for a new one...I will try and make the Rummer on November 7th if that is ok. If this one is too big now, I would be happy to join/start another. Mine in Canada was just ladies (sorry gentlemen!), but I am open to anything...just happy to see something going on after the shops close at 5...how do you all cope?!?!
