Welcome to the Marlborough House

Marlborough House is an enchanting small hotel owned and operated by Laura and Charles Dunlap in a friendly and informal style. Located in the heart of Georgian Bath, this impressive stone Victorian house has lovely spacious rooms furnished with beautiful antiques which have been assiduously chosen and elegantly assembled. Built in 1867, Marlborough House is situated in the very centre of Bath, close to Queen Square and at the edge of Royal Victoria Park.

A short stroll up Marlborough Lane will lead you to the gates of this lovely park, where Royal Avenue presents a panoramic view of the gracefully imposing Royal Crescent, a fine example of Georgian architecture. Only a few steps further will bring you to Baths' famous Circus and the centre of historic Bath, altogether a 5 minute walk from Marlborough House.

Our Rooms

Marlborough House has seven bedrooms; every one handsomely furnished with antiques and containing either an antique wood four-poster, or a Victorian brass and iron bed.

Each room is unique, but all are lovely, comfortable, scrupulously clean, and provided with complementary sherry and an abundant hostess tray featuring home baked cookies. Each room has a direct dial telephone, radio, alarm, hair dryer, and colour television with remote control. In addition, Marlborough house is on-line and internet and e-mail access is offered to guests.  Marlborough House is non-smoking throughout, as the proprietors and staff strive to keep the hotel environment as congenial as possible for all the guests (from the halest-and-heartiest to those who are allergic or chemically sensitive), keeping the rooms exquisitely clean using only ecologically sound cleaning products and by providing healthful herbal toiletries for the guests' use.

Breakfast

Served in either the elegant parlour or lovely dining room, breakfasts are cooked to order, using only the highest quality organic ingredients. Marlborough House specializes in organic foods which include a wide range of organic cereals, juices, yoghurts, fresh fruits and jams, organic English cheeses, eggs and milk and a selection of excellent breads, including imported organic croissants, as well as fresh roasted continental coffees and all manner of fair trade organic teas.  At Marlborough House, such careful attention is paid to the quality of menu ingredients, that everyone - from nursing mothers to vegans to guests who follow religious or cultural dietary regulations, as well as guests with diabetes, allergies or other dietary requirements - will feel both safe and welcome, as they are sumptuously served.
