The hotel is not in the village of Timsbury, but lies about half a mile away under the opposite hill in Radford - a small hamlet that has only recently been signposted. The hotel was built by the local brewery in 1835 as a malt house. We purchased it in l973 after it had been used for various purposes and was in a derelict condition. We then worked into transforming it into a small comfortable country hotel, with all the amenities required by today's traveller, but retaining the character of a building of its age. For many of our guests, their pet is very much one of the family and if they could not bring them on holiday with them, then they would not take a holiday. They are very welcome here at The Old Malt House
Good country English cooking is served in the 'Baking Floor' Dining Room. This is the area where the barley was baked to create the malt which in turn was used to make the beer. This is a very pleasant room; wherever you are sitting you can look out of the windows and see the lovely surrounding countryside. This is a non-smoking room. Breakfast can be a good substantial meal, chosen from the menu and cooked to your requirements, or if you prefer something lighter there are always croissants available plus the usual cereals etc. For dinner we offer dishes such as Pheasant, Venison, Duck, Chicken and Steaks are just a small selection of dishes from a varied menu which also includes various fish dishes and the specialities, Steak and Kidney and Rabbit Pies. Vegetarians are catered for with a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Bar meals are available from £5.
