The House
The house, restored in 1861 as a working farm, once again
offers rest and comfort to the traveller. At the farm house
your hosts, David and Jackie Bishop, offer a warm welcome
and provide bed and breakfast for the traveller or tourist.
Alternatively, accommodation in one of the self-catering
cottages, skilfully created from old farm buildings adjacent
to the house, is available for those seeking a little more
independence.
We provide accommodation for your dogs and horses too!
Accommodation at Toghill in one of the tastefully decorated
double rooms offers a high level of comfort. Combine this
with a traditional English breakfast prepared from the
farm's own produce and you will soon understand why many
guests return time after time. All rooms have either double
or twin beds and all have ensuite bath rooms, television and
tea and coffee making facilities.
The attics have recently been converted to two bedrooms both
with en-suite bathrooms. With the help of a gate at the top
of the stairs, these can be combined to make a single suite
ideal for families with young children. |

The
Working Farm
Toghill is still a working farm and David, conscious of
how remote farming has become from mainstream living, is
very glad to show guests and their families how a West
country farm operates at first hand.
Although Toghill now concentrates on crop growing there
are rare breeds of sheep. Also English goats, Gloucester
Old Spot pigs and bantams.
Toghill Farm has stabling which guests are welcome to
use. Bring your own horse, practice in the all-weather
surface arena and then try out the twenty-four jump
cross- country course which follows the perimeter of
most of the farm estate. The permanent jumps have all
been constructed to a high standard by Badminton's own
jump builders and offer a real challenge to the aspiring
young equestrian. We also have lovely walks following
signs around our farmland and several longer planned
walks taking a whole or half day.
Shops and other services
The village of Wick is about 1 mile away and has several
shops, including a post office, general stores and
newsagent. There are also one garage and a doctor's
surgery and an excellent Pub/restaurant.
Pets
Well-behaved family pets are welcome but please ensure
they are not left alone in the cottages or bedrooms.
Please do not allow them to foul the gardens.
Laundry room
There is a laundry room available with a washing
machine, tumble drier, electric iron and ironing board.
All are powered through a coin-operated meter. |
